Types of dreams
There are several types of dreams known as shown below.

Lucid dreams

Where you know you’re dreaming, you can control what you do. It comes from the activity of parts of the brain where usually rest during sleep.

It is a state between REM sleep and being awake

When dreaming this, it is possible to control the story, however, experts say it is best to just let your dreams flow naturally
Nightmares
Nightmares are a bad dream, they are caused because
of various reasons, the main ones are:

Stress and/or fear

Trauma

Emotional problems

Medication or drug use

Illnesses

When you keep getting the same nightmare it might be your subconsciousness telling you somethings. It’s recommended to visit a mental health care provider
Incubated dreams

Ability to plant a seed for a specific dream you want

This is different from lucid dreaming, as you are focusing in a specific issue before going to sleep, while on the other hand lucid dreaming is being aware that you are currently asleep
